Block button unresponsive

Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:44 am

If my defender is at all tangled up with a guy, he won't jump when I hit the button; I can't seem to go up for a block unless I'm so far off I'm not playing tight D; I wish it would just give you a weak attempt at a block or an awkward attempt making a foul more likely, instead of just not doing anything.

It seems like guys never try for the steal either...

That said, I think the game feels a lot better than '05, I never played '06. I seriously doubt that they'll leave the substitution bug unfixed; since that's more a matter of something integral being completely broken than a minor gripe or glitch, I really do think it will be patched.

Why do you want to jump for a block while the offensive player is trying to dribble past you?

I don't think he meant dribbling past the player, but tangled under the net where he would try to jump before the other player attempted a layup or a block.

Tangled under the net? I'm not following this at all.

Tangled with other players under the net, like there's three or four guys under the net trying to stop someone cutting in and attempting a lay-up or dunk. The guy who's trying to go for the lay-up is having trouble attempting one because of the bumping man defense, and when the offensive player does finally attempt a lay-up, the defense guy can't go up for a block. That's my guess.

No, I mean when you're playing post defense. Whenever my guy is playing post defense, he can't jump to block; I can only jump to block if my guy is far away, playing help defense.

There is a vague element of realism there (in that it's hard to jump and block if a guy is bodying you up, and gamblers who go for the weakside blocks get more blocks than guys playing straight up d, but still...)
