My apology

Tue Oct 03, 2006 10:06 am

This is a formal apology to this forum.

Yes, I wrote 2 constructive NBA Live 07 reviews. Yes, I wrote a NBA twoK7 review. Yes, I made unwarranted statements about the sites admin/mediator. I apologize.

My frustration is this:

I've given Electronic Arts over $450 for NBA Live games the past 12 years, and giving them another $40 donation for a product that should never have been released has caused outrage with the company.

Following this site for years now, utilizing many of the patches, I just wished the powers that may be, those who have ties with EA (NBA-live site owners), could have some means for communicating our concerns with the company and get something done.

I will let this rest, and enjoy the other game now.

Have you checked out this thread by chance?

We're trying.

I believe this has been done as soon as the major bugs were found...
Now, for something to be done, it was pretty obvious that EA would not release any patch after only a week.

yes, I signed it last Friday.

Rhetorical question on my part. No one likes people coming onto an NBA Live fansite and bashing the game and the administrators. It's simply in poor taste.

EA released a game:

- The DL version was a bad file, and didn't work. When people tried to get refunds, it was often a fight (and for me over three hours on the phone.)

- EA hyped "signature shots," and even sent new emails (post-release) that hype signature shots without mentioning they aren't in the PC version.

- Not only does the computer not sub, not only do auto subs not work on the human controlled team, but if the human tries to remove exhausted starters who aren't in foul trouble the computer puts them back in the game.

- Locked players no longer can run up court while the computer inbounds the ball. If you lock on a F or C, you'll have to sprint to half court and then throw a long pass before the five seconds expire.

- None of the problems from previous versions such as lack of an ability for the locked or off ball player to set a pick were addressed, and in fact even more was broken.

This guy is apologizing for criticizing? That makes no sense. Consumers would be justified to call the attorney general to complain about false advertising, rather than apologizing for complaining.

A patch and an apology is needed from EA, in that order.

There is a specific thread with a list of bugs, I think by now everybody knows what most of them are and is pretty upset about it.
I agree that EA did a surprisingly (at least for me) poor job this year and we have every reason to complain, but that guy is apologizing cuz he basically said that the NLSC mods were wussies who were afraid of speaking up and telling EA what's screwed upa bout Live '07. If you've read a few threads, you'll see that it's not justified at all...
No matter how pissed I am, I appreciate that Donatello, Andrew and the others are actually trying to do something about it. (Y)

I can understand the frustration. I'm sick of it, too. I actually registered back in 2003 to criticize Live 2004, but everyone around me was totally supporting the game without pointing out its faults. Three years later, it's great to see actual criticism and a demand for change, but we all have to be careful not to shift the blame onto the members of the forums, who are actually doing something as a collective whole.

ffs im sick of people complaining, if u dont like it, dont buy it..... noone cares how much the game broke your heart

So what do you expect them to do? If we voice our concern and be vocal about it, maybe something will happen. At least its better then putting up with a less than mediocre game.

There is a big difference between speaking out and starting a new thread. He can tell what he thinks in the specific threads and not bug everyone else with a new separate comment.

I like this site, and the people who run it are (in my opinion) concerned with the community and the game. But this guy was expressing justified frustration over this game.

Nobody from EA has apologized or given any word about bugs. EA people were all over the game sites pre-release, talking about how they respected the PC community and made a great game. When it was marketing time, they were talking. But now, silence.

Nobody from the news sites that attended community day have explained how people played the game but nobody noticed the sub bug which was apparant within five minutes of play.

How would people know they didn't like it until after they purchased the game...

However there is an obvious situation. How can you like a basketball game with no subs?

Some of us are missing the boat here. Nobody's against expressing frustrations, etc. Maybe some are, but they're wrong... the point is that it should be done properly, in the appropriate threads, as to not clutter this forum any more than it has to be.
