i am entering the codes in the nba codes menu but it keeps telling me that the codes are incorrect but i know they aren't
can this be cos of some patch i 've installed?

It shouldn't matter if you have any patches installed or not. In years past some codes have been console specific, it's possible that's the case again this year.
