How Do I Free Cap Space?

Ok so I'm trying to make trades and all but the teams are replying back saying i need to free cap space and I have no clue how to do that. I tried to release players but it said that wont effect my cap space so Im clueless! Help Please!?

By DBFing or by trading some players to teams who have salary cap like Charlotte

I know you need to change the franchize.dat using some sort of a HEX Editor, but it wont work :/

I edited what I should like the manuals say, but it has no effect.

like, I have -10.16M on my cap room, I put the letters A0 86 01 in the correct like after I searched and found the value 8FCF, I save it, load my dynasty, but nothing happens.

What is DBFing? And first off I have this game for XBOX, not computer...

The only legitimate ways of freeing up cap space is to make a trade with team that has cap space in which you send bigger contracts for smaller contracts (the other team's cap space will have to account for the difference) or allowing your own player's contracts to expire so they no longer count against your cap. As in real life, you can trade for players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season so that you can free up space without having to wait a few years for various players to become free agents.

Since you're playing the Xbox version, you cannot edit the salary cap or any of the game's databases.

The only way to free cap space by editing the DBF specifically is to edit the individual player's contracts so they total less than the salary cap. Otherwise editing franchise.dat is the only way to get it done.

NBA Salary CAP is way too low, so DAT file editing it I do not in anyway see it as bogus, higher it to 85 million, especially if you want to go 5 years or so.

If you're trying to work within a representation of the real NBA with the same restrictions it's not really a feasible option though, since updating the cap to around $85 mil wouldn't be accurate.

In the game before the Webber trade he asking around 14 mil a year to sign him in REAL life plays ball for under 1 mil a year so how isnt it accurate?

The real NBA salary cap isn't $85 million, so changing the cap to $85 million in the game would not be accurately representing the NBA's real salary cap. I'm not disputing its usefulness in getting around issues in NBA Live 07, but if you wanted the cap to reflect the NBA's actual restrictions you wouldn't increase it to $85 million.
