I still dont understand cap space. Why is it that the simulated teams can sign a player for 50 mil when they are over the cap room.Yet i have stephon marbury's contract ending at the end of the season and i cant even sign a player for 3 mil.
Also i need tips on signing players.Does the amount of years matter and will it help signing a player in any way?Like,i was 20 mil under the cap and i was able to sign Jason Terry(about 20mil),Ben Wallace(30 mil), and Al Harrington(20 mil).
I signed ben wallace for 30 mil,yet his contract says only 12 mil.Why is that.
Help plz and thank you.

Teams can go over the cap when they re-sign their own players. Note that contracts actually need to expire before you gain cap space and each team's payroll is different, so a contract coming off your books isn't necessarily going to give you space if you're a long way over the cap.

One figure is the yearly amount, the other is the total size of the contract.

he gets paid 12 million a year. you must have signed him for about 3 years or something. that is the only thing i can think of. good luck with it.
