After reading a lot of positive and negative comments i didn't know whether to get the game or not! So i went and hired it from Blockbuster, i only got it for 2 nights so i didn't get much of a chance to play it.
When i turned it on and the starting video came on i watched it of course and thought it's pretty much same as 2004 video. I first went to Practice mode and tried out the new dunks. I found them different but still seemed the same in a way. Then i tried out the freestlye Superstar dunks with the help of the ign guide. I thought they were pretty cool and could be a good adition to the game. I decided to do a play Now match and check out all the player ratings and the New Allstar teams. I was pretty surprised seeing Lebron go from 83 in 2005 to 95 in 06. I like the Eastern Allstars heaps better although the West are probably better! I did a match between Denver and Spurs and left all sliders on default. Now i've heard about alot of issues with offensive rebounds but i didn't have a problem at all! It was a little to easy to waltz in and dunk so i changed the CPU onball physical defense to a bit higher( it started pretty low). It was a great match and i won 84-81. The first thing i noticed in the match was the players look more detailed especially in the muscles
but yet they looked more cartooney. I was hoping there would be different ways of stealing and there is. I've heard good comments about the fast breaks and now i know why. The fast breaks are good because once you get one you get support from a teammate and make it a 2 on 1. Fast breaks are especially good when you have a playmaker running up with the ball. I'm glad there is new commentary and they actualy give tips. The Slam dunk contest and 3 point shoot out havn't really changed except for the venue(Houston) the Allstar game is heaps of fun running aroung using your freestlye superstar moves! If you liked 2005 music you'll like 06 music.
Overall i really like 06 and i'm gonna buy it and i know i wont be dissapointed. 9.0/10
