Trading for draft picks

Postby Matt on Tue Oct 04, 2005 5:40 pm

im finding it damn near impossible to trade for a draft pick. I've done some scouting and I'm interested in 2 players to fill 2 desperate needs. One player will be picked "Late in the 1st Rnd" whilst the other will be picked in "2nd Rnd".

With my teams progress thus far i expect to be picking 20-25th. That means I'll get one of my picks, but not the other. So i tried making some trades to get a 2nd rnd pick. With interest very high for Carlos Arroyo & Lindsey Hunter from various teams i offered them up for a 2nd Rnd draft pick but absolutely no interest. I messed around with it for a while, chucked in other players and sweatened up the deal. No one wants to trade their picks, even before the deadline.

So i offered Richard Hamilton for a 2nd rnd pick and only then did they accept.

Anyone else have problems or can offer me any suggestions.

I usually trade my draft picks with a team that's interested in MY draft picks... like if the interest bar is a bit filled, that means the team will trade it's draft picks as well....

For some reason the draft is very messed up, projected late 2nd rounders are picked at 15, projected top 10 are picked at 35... it's very weird so it's hard to guarantee you are going to get those 2 guys...

yeah i just simmed to see what was gonna happen and my interest went in the 1st rnd @ 22, so basically i have to lose some games before the season ends. If i pick in the 20-22 range I'm pretty sure i'll get what i want.

Best thing to do.. is find the player... and let some team draft him and then trade a high valued player for him.. thats what i do and works allmost everytime

Hell... I sign a Crap High Ranked FA and trade him for a Top 3 Draft pick as a franchise cornerstone.... as cool as it is to trade for Picks... it's just to much of a pain in the arse

so just trade form your guy next pre season...

Just bumping this because I'm starting to agree.

It's such a huge pain in the ass to put a deal together...wait three days...then have them tell you "they're not trading for draft picks right now."

There's no rhyme or reason to when they will or won't trade for draft picks. And it's so annoying to have to offer the same deal, wait, over and over.
