FG rating

Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:21 am

Can you explain me what exactly represents the FG rating?
I suppose this is a jump shot rating but in that case i don't understand why Shaq is a 89FG player  .
In fact, the range may determine the effectiveness of the FG rating, but why create an inside scoring rating bcz a player like Shaq has a 12foot range so FG should determine his level from the paint?

The FG rating is stupid. EA has to change it to something more specific. I want ratings for layups, inside shots, mid range then 3 point.

Three points rating determines de range, and FG rating represents the effectiveness inside that range. I'm not totally sure about the what does inside scoring really, but I think it has some influence on FG% on simulating stats in Dynasty or Season modes.

There is a separate "Range" rating. So I guess the FG rating determines the chance of hitting a shot within that range. For example, Shaq has a FG rating of 89, and Peja Stojakovic has an 88. But Shaq's Range rating is 12 compared to Peja's 25, so Peja hits shots from the outside, whereas Shaq doesn't.

And I think the Inside Scoring determines the effectiveness of hook shots, of these one-handed big man shots, and perhaps of layups. :?:

But the thing is that "Range" is hidden from the edit menu. It is automatically adjusted when you change the player's 3 point ratings. But you have guys like Medvedenko who can hit the 18-20 ft jumpers but can't shoot the 3 worth a dime. But if you give guys like these a higher 3 point rating to increase their range, they'll take too many 3's in simulation. Then you have to edit their 3pt attempt frequency in the DBF.

i dunno about u guys but shaq can hit jumpers, at least in 05
anything inside the 3 point line was a swish (unless contested)

he had 0 3 pt rating, but 99 fg, 99 inside

fg rating is for field goals
3-pt rating is for 3-pointers

pretty god-dam explanatory

someone with a high FG rating will hit more shots than someone with low, and same for 3pt...

FG rating is for shots inside the paint. It said it in 2004.

It's too bad the shooting range has disappeared.

Three pointers count also as field goals. Check players stats on http://www.nba.com/players .
