Talk about NBA Live 06 here.
Sun Oct 09, 2005 8:47 pm
I am an NBA Live veteran, from Live 97 on PS1 right through to 2005. Thing is, I am hearing so many negative things about this game. It is pretty standard for a Live game to come out, and a lot of people to say they hate it. But I am seeing tons of other Live veterans, and guys with hundreds of posts round here, also come out and say they think this game is a step back. Apparently rebounding, ease of scoring and poor post play are all big problems. Problems I don't have with Live 05 actually.
Bottom line is, I don't know whether to trade in my 2005 for this game. Only this morning I was playing an exciting game on 2005 (I just couldn't stop the Sonics, Allen and Lewis mainly), and my sliders (kobelive2006, with a couple of mods) are perfect. As long as my team doesn't have any amazing players they work pretty well anyway, I am usually the Bobcats or the Sixers.
If any other NBA Live veterans would give a genuine opinion, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys
JC
ps. If anyone says check out 2k-whatever, I will find you and beat you down
pps. Does anyone have any maxdrive rosters for Live 05 on the PS2?

buy 06, but dont trade in 05... you wont get much for it anyway

It has better player models, nice jerseys anc courts, but the gameplay is worst than last year. Don't buy it. Buy 2k6 which is awesome

I always suggest renting if you're not sure. Generally software and games have a no-return policy so if you find you don't like it you're stuck with it and you're not getting your money back. While I like NBA Live 06, opinions and expectations are varied so while some of us may be satisfied, others may not be. So again, if you're torn, rent first. That's the fairest advice I can give.

ive enjoyed 06 because its more of a challenge, and its innovative. i was getting a bit tired of 05, but 06 is good fun

In my opinion, Live 06 is much better than Live 05 both graphic and gameplay wise.
2 things I do not like about the change are: Superstar players are too dominant, and it should be easier to block.

easier to block? wtf?
1. yao ming averages 6.5bpg on my game - with 6min quarters
maybe you just suck at blocking...
2. raise sliders for more blocks

In my Dynasty, all my made-players have 99 in Defensive Awareness and Blocking. I do not expect any team's Pointguard to be able to shoot in front of my 7'4+" Centers who is guarding him without getting blocked. This happens both with me controlling that Center or computer controlling him while I'm controlling some other player.

If you're not interested in NBA 2K6 then get Live 06 you cant survive without a basketball game at all! You must be sick to death of Live 2005 by now...

I am really enjoying this year's version so far. There are just a few things that bother me about it and they're pretty easy to get around. I definitely think it's an upgrade of 05.

live06 is the most interactive basketball made to date, its so amazing the many things u could do in this game

Thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to buy the game, and keep Live 05, see how it pans out. Like mentioned, I suppose I can always take it back if its as bad as some people are making out.
Cheers

06 is way better than 2005. If you play 06 and then 2005 right after it, you will notice how boring 2005 is because you cant dunk on people and its just soo boring.

It's slightly better than Live 05. But is it worth paying the full retail price right now? IMO, no. Unless you think a game is better just because of an improvement in graphics.

I've never seen the opinions on a game so polarized.
BUY IT

Got the game, it's still early, but I think I have some decent sliders already. I would say that the game is an upgrade on 05 and its definately good to play something new, but the same as 05, the sliders are everything. If you love Live games, then you will most likely like this, but if you are expecting a truly great upgrade on 05, you will most likely be disapointed. Hope that helps if like me, you were unsure about whether to buy. If you are unfamiliar with Live games, I would definately rent first. Just my 2 cents anyway.

like 90-80 Bulls def. Spurs 6 min. superstar quarters
and it was soemthing like 85-82 Bulls def. Bobcats same quarters, dif.
