Facemasks

Talk about NBA Live 06 here.

Facemasks

Postby Andrew on Sun May 25, 2008 4:03 pm

I was updating some player accessories today and remembered that NBA Live 06 doesn't include facemasks. I was thinking it might be possible to take those files from NBA Live 07 and replace one of the existing goggles options. If it is, then I suggest we do it. :)

well at first we could just replace the old school goggles and if it works move on to try to add it as a separate item
Opinions are my own.

speaking of facemasks if this is successful i'd like to see zo's chrome facemask patch like the one he wore a few years back.

The goggles should work, but it would be a custom facemask based on the goggles model. There is no current way to just port the facemask model into the goggles.

The only problem I see is the holes in the mask. Maybe transparency can do the trick.

So what Pdub is saying is that we get a facemask with only the eye area being displayed? That's another problem if that is the case.

well, there's only one player that regularly uses a facemask, so I don't think this should be a big deal. We should put the facemask on the cyberface like some people did before and call it a day.

^ Word.

And other playes who wear them, only do it for a certain time, so I think everybody can live without them. Rip's got his one on his cyberface.

So I just wasted several hours trying to convert a facemask model to 06? Pretty much. I was able to stretch out the goggle model, but no matter what it won't look like the 07/08 facemask.

Lets just not port it to 06 but instead like andreas said lets just put the facemask to the cf..cuz as far as i know only rip hamilton always wear that facemask(even though he already dont have an injury in his nose he uses it for fashion purposes)

That's a shame, I was hoping the shape files from 07 could be used. Sorry to lead you on a wild goose chase there P, I appreciate you checking it out. (Y)

If the best we can do is add the mask to specific players like Richard Hamilton then that's more than sufficient. I just thought it would be cool if we could add the facemask to 06's player accessories and easily add and remove it as necessary. If we can't, Plan B is fine.

It is possible to use the goggles as a facemask by tweaking the model. Then we can use transparency in the texture to make it look better, but it will only have one strap keeping it on, and we will have to replace one goggle texture with a facemask texture, unless we can add a goggle accessory to the dbf and the fsh for the facemask.

Doesn't sound too bad, not perfect but something to consider. Do you have a screenshot of your experiments?
