thanks for the help jenz, but I've been using the pen tool for different things too yet I feel so uncomfortable with it when doing vector art. I guess practice does makes perfect, I'll keep practicing.

Still, you made an awful lot of pen tool strokes. It must have took you awfully long still. I wouldn't be able to make a hair strand after hair strand like you did. It takes a lot of patience and preciseness, something I'd love to have. The thought of doing so scares me already.
