And they were complaining last year about the outdated roster... this year's roster will be prehistoric once the game comes out. Cor Von, Cryme Tyme, Ashley, Booker T, Ric Flair, Sandman, and Sabu are all gone. That's 8 wrestlers in total compared to last year's 5. (Mercury, Kid Kash, Psicosis, Paul Birchall and Vito)

Ashley just went to do survivor, and i thought the booker T quitting was just a rumor. Hmmm.

I was hoping that Ariel, even though she was cut would make it in the game. I knew they were going to have at least one ECW diva, but it turned out to be kelly kelly. But no Mike Knox?

Ashley is just as useless as Kelly Kelly anyways... and she's been absent from T.V for a long time already. Booker T is done. He just got buried by Triple H and subsequently suspended for the wellness violation and got suspended for 60 days. Needless to say, Booker is done. He's financially secure and set, so no need for him to stay in the WWE and constantly job to Triple H. The only rumor about a wrestler quitting is Ric Flair. Booker T is legitimately done with the WWE.

Mike Knox? He's been totally nonexistant for way too long. If Kevin Thorn can't make the cut, I don't see any reason for Knox to make the cut.

If you go to best buy you can pick up a xbox 360 version of the demo for 5 bucks down on a pre order of the game. I have no idea if you are liable for paying the rest if you dont want it after that though. But i got it and so far its pretty cool. I havent played a smackdown game since the last one for ps2, so im still getting used to the controls. Seems like there are less moves to do. Maybe im missing something. Other then that its good, but sometimes you have to look past the little things like when on the top rope your foot may be going through it. Or when i won with mysterio and lashley was my manager he would hold his hand up, yet he wouldnt even be close to touching his hand. Maybe its not polished off in the demo? Anyway just thought i would let you all know.

I'd say that's how it will be. Pretty much every game in the series has had noticeable issues with certain moves when it comes to wrestlers who differ greatly in height, particularly Mysterio.

On topic, I don't think that THQ knows who'll be suspended or not. They can definitely pull off superstars from the game, but I don't think that they could add some.

And THQ actually went on record and stated that ECW's presence will be as big as the other 2 brands, yet you can't play ANY of their superstars (except Johnny Nitro, who was with Raw at that time) in the 24/7 mode. You can only manage the brand in the General Manager mode. This is absolutely ridiculous, since I was definitely looking forward to playing with Punk, Burke, and Cor Von.

THQ/Yukes is becoming as lazy as EA. All they do is a roster update, add new hot spots, make a sorry story mode and then HYPE HYPE HYPE it up as the best game ever!!!!! I guess BIG ECW presence = some ecw wrestlers and being able to use flames on tables, 2x4s and other stuff. They just hype it up, im sick of THQ/Yukes, they think we will buy anything at this point. Dont even try to make a new game, dont try to work on AI, dont try to upgrade some of the events, just half ass it and sell it to loyal fans.

The GM portion sounds decent enough but I still don't care for combining the two modes into one. The coolest feature I've read about so far is the fact the Xbox 360 version will allow you to use ripped music as entrance themes.

I played it - it's pretty decent I would say. Did they really just map some ultimate control moves to the RB+right analog stick grapples? Last year you had four grapple positions and each one had a UCM, now none of the regular ones have a UCM and UCMs have replaced some grapples. Then again I probably am missing something.

I love the ability to free run with LB and the submission system seems adequate. Everything else is par for the course but I wasn't expecting magnificence.

Im going to buy a ps2 and fire pro wrestling returns, which comes out nov 13th i believe. Ill pass on smackdown for the 2nd year in a row.

yeah..im considering getting a new ps2 for firepro returns since mines all jacked up
but been playing fire pro d on chankast for now..friend has the dreamcast console
lying around somewhere and we're considering getting controllers and wires and stuff
to play fpd..and a bunch of other dreamcast games of course..but ive been disappointed
by the svr series..too much repetition in season mode..some bad character selection choices
i'll wait for fire pro and see how the new tna game is

FPR doesn't have a season or career mode, nor does it have any wrestlers that have their real names.

I'd take the ability to create my own promotion over a repetitive season mode any day. And doesn't FPR have full names for all the indy feds? NOAH, ROH... only names that are fake are the obvious ones, any of those fortunate/unfortunate enough to have worked for the WWE before. I'm still laughing at the fact that Spike Dudley went to Brother Runt.

Well NOAH isn't really an indy fed at all - it's called Super NOVA in the game and I'm 99% sure there are no real names in the game by default. Definitely no ROH in there, though there are plenty of edit packs that rename all the wrestlers and add tons of new ones including their roster.

It remains to be seen if it's possible to convert an edit pack for the Japanese version to be compatible with the US version. But before you even worry about that you'd need a Action Replay Max EVO which comes with a USB drive to copy the packs onto your memory card.
