cool. I'm all signed up. I'm a little disturbed by the 7 AM draft time on a Saturday, but I guess it wouldn't hurt me to wake up a little earlier for once

We got all 14 spots now, this looks like it will be the biggest nlsc football league ever (dont bring up the fact we've only had 2 including this one).

Becuase alot of players (myself included) have given different names to their nlsc ones, I want to have a post showing who's who.

Cheif Wiggum: Me
Gordans Wallaces: Air Gordon
Cwebbiverson: CwebbIverson
Purple People eaters: Riot
Indy's colts: Indy
Jing: Jing
German Beau-Catz: Might Mos
12: 12 (how could he be confused with anyone else afterhis retarded "wtf post")
Anthony: Anthony
Q Baller: Q baller
Fgrep: FG Elastico

So that leaves us with the cherrypickers and kings of ny, please identify yourselves .

we gotta make sure "Clancy" doesn't win it again

Don't make me lock this league . I dont like the idea of 3 wr's with 14 users, that might make it a bit thin. But I do like the utility position. WHat do you guys think?

I kinda like one util spot... gives you flexibility on weeks when you'd like to play an extra player, but don't have enough spots. More than one is ridiculous.

Haha, for some reason that made me laugh really hard.

I don't think the utility position is a good idea. It takes away from the point of fantasy football.

It makes who you decide to play less relavent.

I see where you're coming from, Indy. It takes a little less knowledge/effort/skill with a util in there.

and I'm used to playing fantasy NBA with more than one util spot so please forgive me

Interesting point indy. However, it does reward those who draft on fantasy value rather then need. I'm still in favour of it. Some more opinions would be good.

With 6 years of fantasy football under my belt, I've determined that Matthew's point (about drafting based on value over need and filling a starting lineup) is more beneficial (i.e. having one Flex position), than not having it. (Y)

Just one man's opinion.

You can't have a utility spot if we are going to have 2 running backs playing, that would be so dumb. If we are going to have a utility spot drop RB down to 1 starter. That I would be in favor of. But you can't be allowed to start 3 running backs.

Indy's right, just adds an extra player that'll probably have a bye.

hehe didn't mean to stir a debate....

i can sort of see what Indy is saying but not really.

in a shallow league, i can see how having a utility position can be a negative/guys taking advantage by selecting 3 stud RB's for his 1st 3 picks or selecting a 3rd RB early in the draft. but in a deep league like ours, if you try this- you'll probably have shit receivers or have a crappy QB. this league has 14 friggin' teams, i think we'll be ok. the talent will be spread out enough

and as far as the utility position making you "think" less.. i believe it's the opposite. you have to strategize more and it adds some 'spice' to the league. lol sometimes selecting who to start @2nd WR is tough enough... besides, all the other leagues for yahoo have at least one utility position in the default settings (basketball 2!) and i don't see anyone bitching about it

utility or no utility, i prefer to have only 2 WR starting positions (Y)

I got sick of waiting for people to post their opinions. Amazing though, people will spam pointlessly but when someone asks for their opinion they dont say a word...

but back to the changes: the number of starting wide recievers is down to two, but each team will have a wr/rb position. But I also put the number of running backs down to 1, so that should make for some interesting decision making.

what's the thinking behind designating only 1 RB? i'm a little confused

Rb's are the most consistent/big point producers while WR's are a crapshoot after the first tier is gone... sort of similar to SG's and C's in fantasy basketball- a lot of quality SG's but limited good C's

IMO every week a RB will be used in that utility spot because any halfway decent GM would rather start a no.2 type RB then a no.3 type WR. for example- someone like Brian Westbrook would get the start over Eddie Kennison every time (not counting bye weeks hehe)

just something to consider

Agreed, and its changed back to 2 running backs. The utility still stands as rb/wr, but if anyone has any objections, say so now.

i'm pretty excited for the NFL and fantasy football season to start. i think the draft is one of the funnest parts of the fantasy season. i don't think i'll have internet connection while i'm on the road so i won't be able to draft my team live. i hope i end up with one Chicago bears player.. even if the pickings are slim for a good fantasy option from them

i hope everyone's been keeping up with the league news and doesn't pick players who's suffered a major or season ending injury :lame:

and for fun here's my mock for the 1st round
l johnson
s alexander
tomlinson
barber
Edge
R johnson
s jackson
jordan
r brown
manning
c williams
portis
chad johnson
and just to be bold... Reggie Bush. haha not really. that's too early. maybe someone will suprise the rest and go with Palmer, who didn't look like he lost a step this past Monday vs the pack

good luck everyone
