For all those who collect the season boxsets (or I suppose DVDs in general), is anyone else a fan of audio commentaries? I for one enjoy getting a bit of the inside story and background on how certain episodes came about as well as alternate jokes and ideas, etc. Futurama's commentaries are usually pretty fun when the voice actors get involved.

Timmy/Jimmy-I know their different characters but being disabled myself, i love these guys. Cripple Fight and Up the Down Steroid are so close to true it makes me sick, yet that is why i laugh so damned hard at it

My favorite Timmy/Jimmy episode is when they joined the Crips.

Moleman has a lot of classic cameos throughout the classic era but two of my favourite would have to be his reading of the wine list in "Selma's Choice" ("Comb...chicken...biscuits...mailman...") and the THOH ep with the short "Terror at 5 1/2 Feet" where he's run off the road and narrowly avoids hitting a tree, only to have his car explode for no particular reason.

And also in the episode where Homer's supposed to give one of his kidneys to Grandpa, he flees for the 2nd time and Moleman is driving this huge semi truck for some reason and nearly hits him...Or when he gets stuck in this weird giant bubble as Marge is escaping the "Leader" camp...
I believe he's also in the Mr Plow episode, he's stuck in the snow at the end with wolves approaching...

when i buy a season dvd(simpsons,futurama,so on) i always watch them the first time with commentary on. i love hearing what the writers were thinking as they made the show.

Good to know I'm not the only one. One of the things I found interesting from the Simpsons commentaries is the writers admitting they can't always remember which character is which when it comes to Itchy and Scratchy, Rod and Todd, etc, because apart from a few one-time mixups early on in the series (Smithers' skin/hair colour, Eddie and Lou's voices around the other way, Lou being caucasian and Lenny and Carl's voices being switched in "Homer's Night Out" to name a few) they always get it right.

On the Futurama side of things, it was interesting to hear how much had been planned out when the series was conceived, especially in comparison to The Simpsons where the writers have suggested that a lot of things just kind of fell into place ("Oh, Lisa likes ponies, we should have her get a pony" turning into a great Homer/Lisa episode in "Lisa's Pony").

yeah i think the commentary really adds to the show, at least it does for me. i just love hearing about it all. to be honest there were a couple episodes from season 1 of the simpsons were i thought the commentary was funnier than the show itself lol

It was interesting to hear Ken Keeler's commentary on "The Principal & The Pauper" because he was quite defensive about the episode, which I understood though I found it a bit weird he didn't get Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein's point about fans being attached to characters and continuity. He also claimed it was his favourite piece of his own work, though I think his work on Futurama outshines his Simpson efforts.
