Ray Emery is God.

Tell me someone else saw tonight's game between Buffalo and Ottawa! For anyone who doesn't know (talking hockey here), Ray Emery, Ottawa's goalie, in his first game back from this slash to the face, gets in not one, but two fights. Goalie fights are rare, but another player taking on the goalie is pretty much forbidden. Emery takes on Buffalo goalie Martin Biron during a melee that includes all 12 players on the ice, then Buffalo's Andrew Peters goes for Emery, after Emery's pretty much been kicked out, but while he's still on the ice. Pretty crazy stuff; it all starts from a clean hit but cheap shot from Chris Neil (Ott) on Chris Drury (Buf), who had to leave the game with a 'head injury', probably a concussion. 100+ penalty minutes total in the game. Awesome! That's like the 7th or 8th time I've seen that now.

Notice how Emery's laughing through the whole thing. Apparently his minor-league coach had to tell him to stop fighting so much because he was missing too many games because of suspension. Wait ... there:

Emery has a reputation as somewhat of a fighter. In 2000-2001 with the Greyhounds, Emery was involved in 4 on-ice fights. In his first season with Binghamton, Emery was suspended twice. He also had a rather ugly altercation with Denis Hamel of the Rochester Americans. Emery went after his future teammate after some racial slurs were said during a game.

Emery's fighting ways continued in 2003-2004. He was also suspended for 5 games for a stick swinging attack on Michel Ouellet of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

That, plus the 3 games this year for slashing a guy, plus whatever he gets for this. I love Ray Emery.

Yeah Emery is amazing. I live here in Binghamton and I've gone to many senator games. Emery was seriously god of hockey and fights. I don't think I've seen such a hardass goalie in my life.

The main thing I noticed was how Emery's eyes lighted up when he saw Marty Biron coming against him.I applaud Marty he had the balls to get in a goalie fight.He could've been injured badly though.Also there is one thing that pissed me of.For god sake,why didn't anyone help Emery when he was in the fight with the other dude ? Bunch of pussy's .

Maybe cause Emery can handle himself. He was also laughing while he fought Peters; he just likes to fight. I wouldn't be surprised if Emery's the toughest guy on the Sens.

I think I like that about hockey. If you're fighting someone, it's your fight. The rest are watching. It's not like football (soccer, for the U.S. people), where everybody starts pushing and kicking everybody.

Oh, that does happen. Except it'll be like, player A and B start to fight, player C goes to protect his teammate, but player D goes in and starts to fight player C. Sometimes you end up with like 4 or 5 separate fights going on ... or in this case 6 cause the goalies started to fight.

So yeah, I guess it's your fight, because if you try to stop a fight, someone will fight you instead. And people say fighting should be taken out of hockey ...
