Need some serious help on it. Due tommorow

You cannot be serious.

Thu May 03, 2007 11:17 am

wikipedia is your friend, so is google

Thu May 03, 2007 11:19 am

what do you have to do?

Sadly I am. And i have tried google and wikipedia but none seem to find anything useful. Its stuff like this, sorry if it seems really really easy to yall and it makes me look like a dumb ass but it just dosent click for me :(

The area of a rectangular lot is represented by 20a squared - 21a - 5. If the width of the lot is 4a - 5, what is its length?

squared= that 2 thingy above, next to the variable.

This might be the dumbest thread in the history of NLSC.

Sorry? I just thought this would be a good place to get some help.

Thu May 03, 2007 12:04 pm

Go ask your teacher for help, or other classmates.

I might start a new thread, "I think I had a wet dream". Seriously, it would be more productive then this one.

Thu May 03, 2007 12:06 pm

I wish i could. My teacher is like my Lakers team... shes garbage. She dosent explain things well and goes to fast. My classmates are as dumb as i am, atleast thats what they show. And if you want to start a thread titled "I think I had a wet dream" thats fine with me.

That's the problem.

Dont get it

Thu May 03, 2007 12:15 pm

do you want the answer or do you want to know how to solve?
the answer is: 5a + 1
to get it you just factor 20a squared - 21a - 5 and you get (4a-5)(5a+1) and to find area you have to multiply the length and width and since the width is 4a -5 then you can see that you are multiplying that with the 5a +1 to get the area so 5a + 1 is the length

Thanks man :) I needed both.

Thu May 03, 2007 12:46 pm

wade_03: Why did you help him? How is he going to learn if he can just easily ask people for the answers?

Thu May 03, 2007 1:04 pm

wow. i couldve done that when i was like 11 or 12.

i agree with matthew that this is the worst topic ever.

If I thought that would've helped him for 1 second, being a Math teacher I would've just given the answer...

Go see your teacher for extra help. I don't buy this "she's garbage" crap. I hear it all the time from students who simply refuse to look for extra help when they need it.

Thu May 03, 2007 1:08 pm

She being garbage is my opinion of course but when she exlpains things it just dosent click with me i have a hard time understanding how she teaches it and for your information i am getting extra help.

If you don't understand something, raise your hand, say so, and ask if she can explain it differently. If you just sit there and do nothing, should she assume you don't get it? Of course not. Though, I have a hard time imagining that if you asked during class, while something is being explained, to have it explained differently, that she'd just up and say no. Again, don't dump blame on her being 'garbage' just because you don't get it.

Thu May 03, 2007 1:16 pm

Haha the reason i dont like to ask her to exlpain things differently is because every time i have a suggestion or a problem she just says "bummer" and goes back to teaching, i mean. WTF?

Thu May 03, 2007 1:28 pm

If she's like that, then make incentive to learn on your own. The greatest teacher is yourself. I know when I had problems with math at one point, where I was seriously considering getting a tutor, I just went through examples in the textbook until one day it just clicked. Next thing you know, I was in math honors getting high 80's all throughout high school. If your teacher isn't willing to help, then try to learn on your own, because, imo, it's the best way to learn.

Thu May 03, 2007 1:34 pm

Thats a good idea but unlucky for me i had to turn in my Algebra textbook since she was bitching the whole week to turn it in since it is at the school years end and the department or whatever needed them. I could get a tutor but its probley too late?

These guys can help you.

What you know about math?
