The knicks looked great last night especially with Mitch at center which I think is the right way to go about it with KATs defence, Mitch really forces players to adjust there shots in the paint.

The Sixers looked much improved even without the usual walking injury list suspects Embiid and Paul George I really liked Bona,Maxey and I was impressed with sixers rookie VJ its the first time ive seen him play and hes a high flyer!

Next up tonight is the Pelicans vs Melbourne!

Once again, I'm going to go into the new season hoping to catch some more games and enjoy the ride more than I have in recent years. I'm thinking that perhaps alternating with some more classic games and highlights will keep my enthusiasm for watching the NBA at a higher level than it has been for some time.

The 2026 season is underway! Pretty exciting opener between the Rockets and Thunder. Almost a controversial finish with Kevin Durant getting away with calling timeout with none left and the referees missing it, but the Thunder won anyway, so a moot point.

A triumphant return for the NBA on NBC, too. Their coverage and presentation really put ESPN to shame. A post I saw on Threads perhaps summed it up best: ESPN's coverage is for sports fans who watch basketball, while NBC's coverage is for fans of basketball.

More snarkily, I'd describe the difference thusly:

Anyway, so far so good on having some fun watching the current season!

The arrests are crazy!

Andrew, can you get LP in Australia? I was using alternative ways to watch the nba but rhe cost in the uk was so expensive or the "free" streams in our country were to risky as people were actually getting arrested for watching illegal streams here let alone locked up posts on X and Facebook so I decided to go back to League Pass which the price has come down a bit now to £16.99 per month but it only always streaming from one device

Wemby with 29, 11, 9...almost a triple double with blocks. If he can stay healthy, his future will be insane!

I can, though I haven't subscribed since 2015. Disney+ includes ESPN now, so that's how I'm watching the NBA this year.

Ahhh ok mate i see, how is cost looking for that in Oz?

There are a few ways I could local networks here including the new Prime channel for sport but the cost to pair up the subscription packages was crazy! Amazon alone stood at £24.99 per month

I think this is the most enjoyment ive had watching nba basketball opening week in years!

Ive been watching alot of basketball theses past few days and iam not surprised to see that the nba announced that viewing was up 44% from last year and I can honestly see why, the players to have a chip on there shoulders, care more on both sides of the ball, there are more midrange and shots from the post. I've not looked at 3 point stats so far but the games ive been watching the 3s haven't been flying as freely as in the last few years I can hardly hand on heart say that 75% of the 3s ive seen taken have come from 3 point shooters within the flow of the offence and as a result the product on the court has looked so much better than recent years.

Overall I feel the effort level is there and you can't really ask for more really.

Austin Reaves with a huge 51-point performance. The "no help" excuse isn't going to carry much water this year; not that it wasn't often overblown anyway, but we should hold onto the early season receipts!

About $17 AUD a month, so about £8.40.

Thats not to bad, Iam glad LP has remained low because the price of tv sports packages are crazy here in the UK mainly centered around the English Premier football league I guess.

I wanted to watch an exciting Spurs vs. Heat game, but wow, it was boring first with way too many 3s...the final quarter and maybe the third one were better.
