My observations:

• VC is making a comeback (duh), but given the pre-order bonus, we can expect similar pricing for in-game stores
• MyTEAM is back - no mentions of tiering or special cards (like Jordan Moments last year)
• Player customization is back (obviously)
• Release September 2016
• Text under the 2K17 logo in trailer: THIS IS NOT A GAME
• Text in trailer: LEGENDS LIVE ON
• No collaboration texts so far (no spike lee, no jay-z, etc ...)
• In-game content was featuring Kobe and Lakers - we might see something like prev-gen 2K14's LeBron mode
• Kyrie and Paul George were in the trailer. Kyrie was with Live previously. Possible cover athletes.

No surprise they're announcing it with his final game looming, though it's certainly early for pre-orders.

Edited in trailer and some more observations (PG and Kyrie possible cover athletes).

The digital items are in-game content. Whether they're significant or appealing to everyone, that's another matter entirely.

No, he was talking about in-game footage in the trailer, which there is none. Just 2K16 footage.

Yeah, went back, finally noticed the "2K16" notice.

It shows we can pre-order the PC version. That is a good sign .
