Can you describe problem little more precise? Is problem that you think that you saved something, but apparently you didn't?

I meant Hard Disk, is it full? Do you have enough space to make saves?

Do you have the DVD-ROM version of the game? Before I went digital with the Steam version, that's a problem I had in a couple of NBA 2K games in the past few years: when launching the game via the disc's autorun, I found I couldn't create any new save files. Launching the game from the desktop icon worked just fine.

You shouldn't have to do either to get the DVD-ROM version of the game working properly. At this point, you might want to hit up 2K Support.
