Extremely low FPS

Postby Panco on Wed Oct 16, 2013 5:30 am

Hey guys,

I'm not a 'PC-tech' guy so I was wondering whether any of you could help me out.

I used to run 2k14 at mostly High setting (except for crown at medium), with AA at 2x using my old Geforce 9500GT 512MB. However, it broke and I got Radeon HD6570 2gb. I know it's a budget GPU; however, I got it really cheap. Nevertheless, it should be more powerful/better than 9500GT, I suppose at least. The problem is that I can now barely get past 20fps with medium settings (it especially lags when the camera is at the center of the court), with most of the options OFF.

Do any of you have any idea what's up with that? Is it normal? Is 9500GT 512 really that much better than HD6570 2gb?

My specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2CPUs)
Memory: 3054 RAM DDR2
AMD Radeon HD 6570 2048MB

Thanks a lot!

You should be getting much better performance. Have you tried reinstalling the game? Are you sure you cleaned your system of all the nvidia drivers?

First. You should run smooth as hell.
Second. No u dont have 2cpu's, u have 2 cores.
It looks like problem with directx software. Did u install directx from nba2k14 disc?

edit: i was mistake in read your card numbers haha, but still you should get more fps.

Skoadam, you are awesome! I did install the directx from the cd (which was 9c), however I tried installing directx 10 now and it runs smooth as silk! :) Thanks a lot!

Solution for me as i noticed bad stuttering and/or low frame rates during gameplay : Adjust AA and AF in your graphics driver menu to "application". Problem solved.

Turns out that Directx had nothing to do with it. I tried inserting HD9570 in a different PCI slot and that's what made the change. I tired to put the card in an old spot again, and it lagged as hell.

However, there is an another issue now. As I insert my graphics card to a different PCI slot, there is no sound anymore on the computer and device manager tells me that there is "No audio device". I tried downloading Soundmax (my sound card) drivers but couldn't install them since "the audio driver files do not support your computer hardware".

What do I do now? :?
