As per 2K Support, the NBA 2K14 servers have been discontinued.
As noted in the Tweet, you can check on the server status of 2K titles here.
The #NBA2K14 server has been discontinued. Players will no longer be able to play ranked games/online leagues. Info- http://2k.com/serverstatus

I'm sure they make these decisions based on the user base. Top Spin 3 over 2K14? 
2K servers are so bad, I couldn't even load the server status page.
