To the PC People Who Aren't Happy with 2K14's Innovation

Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:19 am

What gamemodes do you normally play? Do you spend more time modding/patching than playing the game?

This isn't a judgement, more of a curiosity as to why you are peeved about the new game.

I spend more time patching then playing the game actually. I only do it because i have the option to. Before i played PC i didnt really care about all of that i just played the game. :D

I'm not peeved, but I think its crazy how so many people are hating when no one has even played the game! Makes no sense. I am excited for any new innovations/fixes that will be implemented. My only concern was about whether MyPlayer Blacktop will be included or not. But even if it's not, I don't really care because there are a lot of improvements coming (blocked dunks, new ani's, better spacing, flashy passes, etc.)!

I'm not annoyed for the lack of innovation....but I'm totally tired about the lack of support/patches/bug & glitch fixes for the PC version of the game....and the lack of solution about silly stuff the community has complained for the past two years (home and away shoes on MyCareer mode)

Hell, if 2k14 turns out to the exact same game as 2k13 BUT with all those issues fixed... I'll buy it happily.

I just won't buy it ASAP this year, I'll wait a couple months for some (lots) of reviews, bug/glitch reports from the media & community and actually seeing of if 2K will really give support/patches to this year PC version before buying.

How does the saying go? fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...

I stopped playing 2K13 soon after installing it for two reasons. I play single play association, so this applies to that mode.

1. The strategy for beating every team was the same. It also didn't matter what personnel were on your team. Every game, no matter the opponent, was the same.

2. Opposing superstars meant nothing. This became visible in playoff series. Playing the Heat, LeBron or Wade or Bosh were never the key performers for their team. There were no big games from opposing superstars. It was just a mish mash of random guys scoring.

not trying to change your mind or anything, but have you ever experimented with the Touches rating and other tendencies for star players?

Association and MyCareer.

I think so, yes.

This isn't a judgement, more of a curiosity as to why you are peeved about the new game.

I wouldn't say I'm peeved, just unimpressed with what I've seen (with the current gen version) thus far. I was impressed with the next gen clip though. Only reason I care about current gen version is because that's the version of 2k14 they're porting for it.

Playin on defaults 2k whatever settings(sliders), roster often ends the same. You should learn this through years. Another thing is that great AI dont exist in games- so maybe u just wish to much.

It depends on the superstar. Playing against the Heat, the sliders can make a huge difference. I usually noticed either Lebron or Wade doing most of the scoring. One problem comes from Lebron's passing ability. The game doesn't really know when he should take it himself and it will pass out. With Wade, I notice mostly jumpshots and not enough drives. On the Lakers, Kobe plays like the Kobe of old, and Pau and Dwight don't get many touches. Oh wait, that's realistic isn't it?

Like JaoSming noted, touches and tendencies are a huge factor. I usually stick with global tendencies by quitting the game and adjusting them if a team is not utilizing it's strengths. It only takes a few notches, too.

As for the topic, I would like them to innovate the PC version by using as much gen4 features as possible, such as graphics, like the corrected jersey neckline.

well i enjoyed modding than playing it LOL honestly.. i didnt even finished my own career hahaha

I play Association and My Career. I play the Heat on Association, my 27 game winning streak ended last night to the Bulls. Got the lead on the first half, then the second half came in when DRose took ever the game. Got hasty with my passing that cost me turnovers which cost me the game... I'm really satisfied with my experience with NBA 2k13. My only problem was the Offensive rebounding, but can live with it. I'd just adjust on my play style. I spend more time playing the game than patching, though I have tons of mod in it. And that made me happy. For me, so far, 2k13 is the best of the series. Note: Really have no problems with blocking. I think good timing is needed. :) Peace!

I'm playing a lot of mycareer and blacktop...:D I'm spending a lot of time in both of them 'cause it's nice to change (almost) whatever in game like you want and play with this...:D

I have honestly spent more time patching than playing the game. I haven't even got into association mode which is the main reason I have for having the game. I have only touched the game when I have someone here in our house to play with.

I would have played association if 2K gave us a patch last year for the stats bug in the association. Well, I do hope they have fixed that this year. I'm still excited to have 2K14. Having a basketball game on PC is better than not having one at all.

I'm pretty much satisfied with the current stuff but of course improved graphics, physics and animations is a must for most of us right aka minimum requirements

Only need to play Quick Games with my friends via a controller here in my place against me with a keyboard :D

My Career just wanna try it out for a season or 2, and its much on quick games and the roster/sliders updates and graphic mods this community gives out (thanks btw) :bowdown2:

Bad question imo : the problem is not innovations but lack of innovation, and even regression on some points.

On 2K13, the real good point is the gameplay. IA is better, playbook is easy to use, post game and iso motion have progress to.

But for the rest

Graphics were the same as 2K12 : a regression cos 2K10 et 2K11 were better. Who could disagree on this point ?
Unfortunately 2K14 looks like 2K12 and 2K13.

Pre/post game TV environments were better on 2K10, pretty good on 2K11... Since 2K12 it's awful, and it seems that 2K keeps jayz's pimp my 2K environment.

Game on internet in good conditions was not possible on previous versions, even with my connection (280down/50up)...
I bet the net(shit)code will be the same this year.
And it's a shame that 2K don't work on this point because it really helps sell games specially on PC.

Most of the "new" features are in fact old features (LBJ mode, blocking system, crew).

That's why I'm peeved about this new game, because despite this facts, 2K11 and 2K13 are still the best sports games.

I used to play Association mode or quick game (vs CPU/friend).
I play on 92/93 mod theses days.

Im peeved because not much differences was made, Im going to check out gameplays when it comes out and see if i want to get it or not. In my personal opinion, 2K12 looked WAY much better than 2K13 but, 2K13 made the cyberfaces more realistic cause some of the CF'S were ''iffy''. The reason why 2K12 was better to me cause it had more realistic details, and the jump shots were easier to pull off. On 2K13 jump shots were either high or low jump shots and the releases were rather quicker than they were supposed to be, Not too quick but it was. Also 2K12 had the sweat details on a player whenever they were tired. And the fact that in 2K13, whenever halftime starts or a quarter finishes...Your character wipes his forehead with his finger and acts like he is breathing hard when, I DONT SEE SWEAT. And 2K13 really peeved me off when you do those leaning layups, Its so rare to make it and i believe no one in the NBA has ever pulled that off without falling and or getting fouled having that hard contact to be in that motion. 2K14 better be worth it, And if next gen version comes out im definitely getting that on the next gen consoles. Just cause the graphics to shake off those little mistakes 2K13 had. 2K better not screw this up. Thats my opinion :)

I think you are complaint again. Gameplay means nothing, wait for premiere and maybe then u can post some opinions, for now we know nothing or almost nothing.

I play in every sport games the regular season, because I like to simulate the reality...I don't like association or manager mode.

and yes...I spent more time to patching than play the game. I start to play the game only after the trade deadline.
I buy 2k13...patched from october to january and stop for personal problems..I never play a single minute of this game

Been playing since the release date, mostly creating a legend, blacktop and association. So far I still haven't gotten bored of any of these gamemodes, I however can't wait for the release of 2K14.

Yeah that stats bug really annoyed me in Association. The whole idea behind Association is continuity and stats are a big part of that. I'm a huge stats junkie and not having it really takes away from the overall experience. Association is the main game mode I play, but I always have a MyCareer going on the side each year.
Other than that the PC support for the game does seem to have lessened but overall I still really enjoy the product and still buy the game each year. I just don't want to see it get to the point that it did with EA Sports and their lack of PC care. I proably spend equal time patching/playing because with the help of some good sliders/settings adjustments from the community (I always use albys) the game gets more realistic each year. There are noticeable AI improvements with each version so that's enough to keep me happy.

Re: To the PC People Who Aren't Happy with 2K14's Innovation

I play association only. It's the only mode I care about at all. As far as mods go, I only download rosters (since 2K has always been HORRIBLE at maintaining rosters I have to rely on user made ones), cyberfaces to go with the rosters I download (since I hate playing with the cpu generated garbage), and any uniform mod for any team that has their unis butchered by 2K to begin with (most of them).

As others in this thread have said, the lack of innovation is almost as bad as the lack of support. I realize they're selling it for cheaper than the console versions, but when the PC versions start to have the same exact bugs year after year it really shows that they don't care at all about that version of their product. Or maybe they're just very, very lazy.

If they updated the PC version to current or next gen gameplay/graphics, updated rosters and patched often enough, and charged $60 for the PC version I'd definitely buy it. But since they're not doing it this year and probably not planning on even throwing a PC patch at us or maintaining decent rosters (like last year), I will be giving this year a pass. I'm not gonna waste money on a company that's starting to mirror EA in their obvious hatred towards the PC user.

I hope for all PC users sakes that the stat bug isn't in again this year. That one was annoying.
