Enhanced Generic CFs & Warmups V2 (Released)

Hey, folks. How's NBA 2K11 treatin' you? I did a few cyberface mods for NBA 2K10, and wanted to get back into modding the 2K series.

Enhanced Generic CFs V2
I was inspired by johndoe22's amazing Shadow Mod, and looked in the global.iff file to see if anything else could be improved. This is my attempt to add some skin detail to the generic players' faces. This will change the appearance of EVERY generic CF texture in the game, regardless of mode or saved data.

This was achieved by editing the AO (ambient occlusion) pass and normal map textures for the generic faces in the global.iff file, as well as the 6 generic face textures in the pcface.iff and pcface.cdf files. Version 2 eliminates the dirty necks and rugged look on generic Caucasian players, and improves the overall look on every skin tone.

Enhanced Warmups V2
This is an attempt to add shading detail to the warmups. This doesn't modify any specific team jersey textures, so this can be used with any jersey mod.

For whatever reason, the game doesn't use the AO (shadow) texture available in the Global file for the warmups, so the only way I could add detail was by modifying the normal map. The normal map for the warmup texture is only 256x256, so they may look a little low res up close. V2 is a minor change that tweaks the normal mapping on the thighs.

Downloads with both GCFs and warmups:
Downloads for regular users are listed below as "packaged downloads". Mod devs and compilation authors will want the EGCF and Warmups Resources.

Download for mod devs who want to manually add the CF texture to their global.iff:
EGCF and Warmups Resources: Replace textures #108, #327 and #350 with these in whichever global mod you are using. The DDS files will be named the same as the texture number they replace. The new "pcface" files included must overwrite the old files in the NBA 2K11 folder.

Packaged downloads (Extract these to your NBA 2K11 directory, overwriting global.iff):
Pre-Applied to Shadow Mod V8 Global: Download this if you want to use the CFs and warmups with johndoe22's Shadow Mod V8.
Pre-Applied to Shadow Mod V5 Global: Download this if you want to use the CFs and warmups with johndoe22's Shadow Mod V5.
Pre-Applied to Shadow Mod V4 Global: Download this if you want to use the CFs and warmups with johndoe22's Shadow Mod V4.
Pre-Applied to Shadow Mod V3 Global: Download this if you want to use the CFs and warmups with johndoe22's Shadow Mod V3.
Pre-Applied to Default Global: Download this if you want to use the CFs and warmups with the default NBA 2K11 assets.

Any mod authors can freely include these texture mods with anything they create. No need to ask.

Nice input man but it would be better if you could supply those generic CFs with the right players in the roster and enhance them otherwise (e.g. from the Bulls: Randy Brown, Dickey Simpkins, etc., then the classic teams i.e. Lakers: AC Green and co.). (Y)

Would love for My Player to have good skin textures like that.....if your going to use his Shadow 3 Global, will you also add real eyes and sweat...thanks...This would become an amazing global.

Could you please explain how you edited the global.iff file to do this. I myself am an excellent texture editor, I have done a lot of game texture patches/mods, most recently Empire: Total War. My only fault is I haven't yet grasped the whole .IFF files sytem fully, if you could do a quick rundown or tutorial of how it's done I could rip out patches like no other.

My schedule is fairly vacant you see, I'm a lazy old fart.

ALSO: Just as a little extra request. Recently the Real Eyes/Sweat/Shadows 3 Global was released. If you do release this patch, could you do it with THAT file. Not many people are going to use your global if it doesn't have that new big mod attatched to it.

Just food for thought, and my only constructive criticism.

REMO85, iff files are just big container files like zip or rar that have a bunch of images and models in them

use something like this viewtopic.php?f=136&t=75639 or the 2k9 iff editor to open the file and export/import textures/models

he posted his texture in the first post so you gotta search for the texture hes got on the left up there and replace it with the one on the right in your global.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I only intended to use the Bulls fillers as examples of the effect on generic CFs. The main reason I made this mod was for people like myself, who love the Association mode and end up in the year 2018 with several randomly generated guys who look like porcelain dolls.
