Custom Resolution Guide

Resources for NBA Live 08.

Postby asif9t9 on Fri Nov 23, 2007 10:32 pm

You know, I was searching the net all yesterday trying to figure it out. I finally gave up and posted here. Then, I started trying to work backwards, using 640 in the list above, and using Windows Calculator. I saw the pattern that you described, but I figured that could not be it. I tried it anyways and it worked. Crazy. Now NBA 08 looks half decent. Thanks.

Can you have 1680x1050 and have it keep the 4:3 aspect ratio so that it's not stretched? Would that be a setting in your video card or in the game?

You have to open the exe with a hex editor. I youre using a crack it should change a bit. I helped my friend (a pirate) to get it with the crack done but here youre not allowed to speak about cracks

Riiiight. Are you sure you have the english version? You can always just search for one of the resolution sequences in hex and see if you find it.

1280x800 = 2003 0000 0005

Kevin_D, look at the photo I showed in the first post. It shows you the numbers to replace and what they match up to in the code section above it. 1680x1050 is on there, you just need to replace the 1024x768 code with the 1680x1050 code.

Does anyone know which lines to edit for 07 or 06, they are not structured the same as 08, this works great by the way.

You will need a hex editor. I recommend Hex Workshop. Open up the nbalive08.exe in your hex editor.

If you want a custom resolution, just post it here and I'll tell you the hex values.

Aha, a couple of days before you created this thread I posted an application that does all this automatically that I did in mid october... All the user needs to do is press Patch, nothing else unless he/she wishes to change resolution.

I don't recommend people to alter the hex file by themselves cause it might corrupt the file if they do anything wrong and forget to backup old file. And many people don't understand hex, and small endian converisons etc. So that is why I created this to make it all auto. Converts the resolution to a small endian and replaces its values within the assembly.

The application I did in October, lets you assign your own resolution (desktop resolution by default), and applys this patch. If you didn't install it in default location it will ask you to browse to nbalive08 location.

Enjoy! It is pretty cool, over 10000 views and over 5000 downloads.

Should be the same way for 07, I don't think it works for 06 since EA used a different schema. 08 screen resolution is same as 07 screenresolution.

The 08 way was imitating the 07 way. You could use the application I did above, and rename the file back to nbalive07.exe or whatever the assembly is called and it will replace the hex automatically for you.
